RCB is a franchise cricket team based in Bangalore, Karnataka. Owned by United Spirits, the team is named after the company's liquor brand Royal Challenge. M. Chinnaswamy has been the home ground for the team since its inception.

The team's jersey colors in 2008 were red and golden yellow, the same as the unofficial Kannada flag, with player names printed in white and numbers printed in black on the rear.

Ahead of the 2008 player auction, the IPL named Rahul Dravid as the icon player for the Bangalore franchise, which meant that Dravid would be paid 15% more than the highest bid player at the auction. The franchise picked players like Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan, Dale Steyn, Ross Taylor, and Virat Kohli. They traded a lot of players due to poor performance. Following this came the Kohli-Gayle-de Villiers era for RCB from 2011 to 2017. Despite having star players in the squad, the team failed to make a mark and win the title. The team underwent a significant transformation for the 2022 edition, with Kohli stepping down as captain, Ab de Villiers retiring, Faf du Plessis taking over the captaincy, and Dinesh Karthik the finishing role. The team currently sits 2nd in the points table and is creating huge expectations among fans for the win.

Major HonoursThe team won the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League under the captaincy of Shane Warne. Apart from winning the inaugural edition, the team could only make it to the playoffs in three other seasons (2013, 2015, and 2018).
