    Formerly known as Kings XI Punjab, the Mohali, Punjab-based franchise rebranded itself as Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League.

    The franchise is owned jointly by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta, and Karan Paul. The franchise has had legends part of its team in the form of Shaun Marsh, Brett Lee, Kumar Sangakkara, and Adam Gilchrist. The team then saw the transition with the presence of international stars like Aaron Finch, Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Yuvraj Singh, and Brad Hodge as the coach. KL Rahul captained for two years while a new team was built under the captaincy of Mayank Agarwal and Anil Kumble as a coach. They have built a team of power-hitters but are still inconsistent with their performance.

    Major honors: Of the fourteen editions, Punjab Kings topped the league table in 2014 however finished as the runners-up. The team has made it to only one other playoff apart from 2014.
