Chennai Super King is a franchise cricket team based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, owned by N. Srinivasan. The team is popularly known as "the defending champions".

The home ground of the Super Kings is the historic M.A. Chidambaram Stadium (known as "The Chepauk"), located in Chennai. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has captained the team since the inaugural edition until he passed on the baton to Ravindra Jadeja this season. The team is coached by Stephen Fleming, who once played for the team as a player under Dhoni's captaincy.

CSK is believed to bring the best out of the players involved in the squad, be it Suresh Raina (known as Mr. IPL), Murali Vijay, Ravichandran Ashwin, or Dwayne Bravo, Sam Curran, Moeen Ali, Deepak Chahar, and Ravindra Jadeja. The team acquired 21 players during mega auctions of IPL 2022. Despite carrying the best winning percentage of 64.83, the team looks to be struggling this season, sitting at the bottom of the points table.

Major honors: They have won four IPL editions in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021. They hold the record for most appearances in the playoffs (eleven times) and final (nine times) in the IPL. The franchise became India's first unicorn sports enterprise in January 2022.
