    Quinton de Kock was born on 17 December 1992 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He did his schooling at King Edwards VII School in Johannesburg. He was spotted as a budding talent when he played cricket at the school level.

    He made his ODI debut for South Africa against New Zealand on 19 January 2013. On 5 December 2013, he scored a century against India in an ODI and was awarded his first-ever "Man of the Match" award. In February 2014 he made his Test debut for South Africa and On 30 December 2021, he announced his retirement from Test cricket.
