    Kieron Pollard is a Trinidadian all-rounder who plays for the West Indies national team. He captained the West Indian team in ODIs and T20s from September 2019 onwards.

    Kieron Pollard’s Early Life

    Kieron Pollard was born on May 12, 1987, in Tacarigua, Trinidad. His mother, Hazel-Ann Pollard, single-handedly raised him with his two sisters under difficult circumstances. Despite this hardship, he has proven himself as a world class player and represented Trinidad & Tobago in the 2005 TCL Group West Indies Under-19 Challenge after being selected for the West Indies U19 team.

    Kieron Pollard’s International Career

    Kieron Pollard made his international debut in the ODIs in 2007. This was followed by his T20I debut in 2008 for the West Indian team.

    His performances were erratic until 2011 when he scored a couple of half centuries in the 2011 World Cup. Later that year, he made his first century, scoring 119 off 110 balls against India in Chennai.

    Pollard has shown impressive performances in T20Is through the years and in September 2019, he was named captain of the West Indies' ODI and T20I squads. In March 2020, Pollard became the first cricketer to play in 500 T20 matches while in February 2022, playing against India, Pollard became the first cricketer for the West Indies to play in 100 T20I matches.

    As of March 2022, he has played in over 120 ODIs and has scored more than 2,700 runs with an average strike rate of 26.01. In over 100 T20Is played so far, he has scored 1560+ runs with a batting average of 25.30. He has taken 55 wickets with a bowling average of 39.29 and 42 wickets at an average of 28.28 in ODI & T20Is respectively.

    Although he’s had impressive performances in limited overs cricket, he has yet to make his debut in Test Cricket.

    Kieron Pollard’s IPL Career

    Kieron Pollard was a sought-after player in the 2010 IPL auction following his performances in The Big Bash League. He eventually joined Mumbai Indians.

    Pollard made his debut against Delhi Daredevils on March 17 and it took him some time to get into form. However, he was soon wowing audiences by scoring 45 runs off 13 balls against Delhi Daredevils on April 13 followed by 33 runs off 13*, 1 run out and *3 wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore, winning him Man of the Match, in the 2010 IPL semi-final on April 21. This helped to propel the Mumbai Indians to their first ever finals appearance.

    Pollard has played for Mumbai for over 10 years, making him their longest serving player). He has played in 151 matches for them going into the 2022 IPL competition.

    It has been confirmed that he has been retained by Mumbai Indians for the 2022 IPL for INR 6 crore (USD $800,000).
