Wimbledon: Jannik Sinner sinks Carlos Alcaraz, Cameron Norrie keeps English hope alive

    It was a battle between the next generation of tennis stars that took place a few hours after 100 years of centre court celebration. The 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz and 19-year-old Jannik Sinner came to Wimbledon at the top of their form. Both have won five ATP Tour level titles early in their career and proved that the future of tennis is promising with an energetic clash.

    The fourth round faceoff between two rising tennis stars was the youngest match at Wimbledon in the Last of 16 since 1985. (in terms of combined age)

    Tenth-seed Jannik Sinner put forth a display of excellent intuitive ability to read the service of Carlos Alcaraz. He fired near-perfect returns to break the serve of his Spanish opponent four times. The 20-year-old Italian was determined to take control of the match from the first game. His efforts paid off as he won five consecutive games in the opener to secure the first set.

    Carlos Alcaraz started to mind his momentum in the second set, but an early break from Jannik SInner was enough to get a two-set lead. The Spaniard fought hard to find a way to respond to wave after wave of Jannik Sinner's aggression. The third set was sent into a tiebreak, and Carlos Alcaraz showed immense grit and persistence to fend off two match points before securing the set with his fourth set point to send the match to the fourth set.

    Jannik Sinnet immediately bounced back after the setback and wreaked havoc with his relentless ball striking. He got a crucial break in the fourth game and converted his sixth set point to secure a quarterfinal berth. 

    In an on-court interview, Jannik Sinner said, "Carlos is an adamant opponent and a charming person, so it is always an immense pleasure for me to play against him. With such a great crowd and a special day today, 100 years of Centre Court. It is just amazing.

    Jannik Sinner will lock horns with Novak Djokovic in a quarterfinal clash at Wimbledon on July 5.

    Alcaraz: 'I'm Going To Be A Great Player On Grass

    Carlos Alcaraz believes he will significantly benefit from the grasscourt experience despite losing to Jannik Sinner in the fourth round. The Spaniard is the youngest player since Rafael Nadal in 2005, breaking into the Top 10 of Pepeprstone ATP Live Rankings.

    Carlos Alcaraz said, "I felt terrific at Wimbledon playing on grass. I got a lot of experience playing on grass. Now I am thinking that I could be a great player on grass. Next year I hope to play some tournaments before Wimbledon to adapt my game to get more used to playing here. But I'm going to be a great player here on grass.

    Cameron Norrie soars past Tommy Paul into First Slam QF

    World No. 12 Cameron Norrie cruised past Tommy Paul of America 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 in the fourth round of Wimbledon to secure his maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal.

    Cameron Norrie became the first British man to reach the quarterfinals at Wimbledon since Andy Murray in 2017 with a straight-set victory over his American opponent. 

    The victory improved the win-loss record of Cameron Norrie against Tommy Paul to 3-1.

    Ninth seed Cameron Norrie started aggressively and broke Tommy Paul in the first game to take control. He saved all four break points he faced in the opener and comfortably secured the first set with his precise groundstrokes.

    Cameron Norrie controlled the game's flow to race ahead in the second set. However, he was broken by Tommy Paul when he was serving out the set at 5-4, sending the match into a tiebreak. Norrie maintained his composure and broke back immediately to get a two-set lead. The American failed to offer much trouble to Cameron Norrie in the third set, allowing the Brith to secure a straight-set victory. With the win, Cameron Norrie advanced to the quarterfinals at a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.

    In an on-court interview, Cameron Norrie said, "To make the quarters for the first time, in front of my family and friends here from college, is so special," Norrie said in his on-court interview. "In a huge match, to play the way I did was good. To execute everything. I enjoyed it. It is pretty crazy. I have a lot of feelings.

    British No. 1 Cameron Norrie will face David Goffin of Belgium in a quarterfinal faceoff on July 5.
