    Caroline Garcia began her US Open campaign after becoming the first qualifier to win the trophy at the Cincinnati Open last month. She continued with her excellent performance at the final Grand Slam of the year to advance to the pre-quarters for the first time in her career.

    Caroline Garcia dominated the 22-year-old Canadian throughout the match and took comfortable leads in both sets.

    Bianca Andreescu saved two match points at 5-2 in the second set. Still, Caroline Garcia converted on her third match point opportunity to secure her victory after one hour and 26 minutes of play.

    Caroline Garcia served eight aces, won 69% of the points on the first serve and broke the serve of Bianca Andreescu five times from ten opportunities

    In contrast, Bianca Andreescu served two aces, won 44% of the points on the first serve and committed two double faults.

    After the victory, Caroline Garcia said, “It's a game I try to keep improving, which I have been doing the last couple of weeks. It is a challenge every single time I walk on the court. But, I really like it, really enjoy it.”

    Caroline Garcia fired 31 winners to 20 unforced errors to ensure her victory. The win over Bianca Andreescu extended the winning streak of Caroline Garcia to 12 matches.
