Murray reveals a disappointing part of the 2022 season before the US Open

Murray struggled with cramping issues at the Cincinnati Open, losing to compatriot Cameron Norrie in the last 32. He pinned his hopes on a sweat test to know where his problem was rooted.

However, Murray has revealed that the test was "all good" and had no links to his cramping, apart from which a blood test has also reaped normal results.

Murray now thinks his discomfort could be a product of conditioning or hydration deficiency, although he has never been affected by heat and humidity. The 35-year-old was relieved to know it had nothing to do with severe biological problems.

"I think it would be nice if you were one thing, you were deficient in something, maybe it is because of that," said Murray. "But at least I know now it is more down to either conditioning or hydration or food-related," he continued.

However, he is concerned mainly because he is in good form now and is clueless about the actual reason behind his ongoing issue. He also shared that the last few days have been better for the Brit, considering his surroundings and playing conditions.

So Murray is hoping for a decent start to the US Open this year.

When did Murray start facing issues?

Murray was experiencing cramping problems in three matches in the last few weeks, including his loss to compatriot Norrie. He won the match 3-6 6-3 6-3 against the 35-year-old.

Murray disclosed how the cramping issue was frustrating due to his long history of physical problems in recent years. He feels better on his left groin and lower back, two areas where he had been facing discomfort.

However, the cramping has persisted over the last few weeks.

Andy Murray to continue monitoring his health ahead of US Open

Murray has decided to check his food and drink intake during his upcoming stint at Flushing Meadows. He believes he is cautious but will make extra efforts to ensure he is consuming the proper fluids on the court.

He carries liter-and-a-half bottles to the court and keeps himself hydrated at appropriate hours. He tries to consume a liter and a half of his sports drink in 40 minutes.

However, during games lasting 15 or 20 minutes, it is tough to strike a balance. Excessive intake could lead to bloating, as stated by the Brit, who is looking forward to a good run in the upcoming US Open.
