The American revealed that she has been practising since her first-round doubles loss at the US Open. In addition, she claimed to have been working on her forehand, serve, and slicing.

Meanwhile, her younger sister Serena Williams pulled the plug on her tennis career that spawned over 20 years. However, the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion hinted that her chances of returning to the game are high.

When will Venus Williams make her comeback to tennis?

Venus Williams will feature next in the inaugural Women's Tennis Classic at the Dallas Open, scheduled to take place on February 4, 2023. She will encounter 2022 Australian Open runner-up Danielle Collins.

Initially an ATP 250 tournament, the Dallas Open will grace a women's exhibition event for the first time in history. Housing a player like Venus Williams will popularise the game and attract more spectators.

"We are thrilled to announce that Venus Williams will join us in our inaugural showcase of women's tennis at the 2023 ATP Dallas Open, playing in the Women's Tennis Classic," said tournament director Peter Lebedevs.

"In addition to some of the best names in the sport expected to compete in the ATP Dallas Open, having a legend like Venus join us just adds to a fantastic week of tennis," he continued.

The blockbuster match will be a best-of-three-set arrangement where the third set will be a match tie-break instead of a regular set.

How did Venus Williams fare in 2022?

After an uneventful first half, Venus made a comeback at Wimbledon, where she entered as a mixed doubles player and paired up with Jamie Murray. But she only made it to the second round.

She competed at the Citi Open in August and kickstarted her singles campaign. Unfortunately, she lost to Rebecca Marino in three sets in the first round, followed by early exits in Canada and Cincinnati.

Venus Williams couldn't overcome Alison Van Uytvanck in the US Open's first round, which was Serena Williams' farewell event. The sisters were eliminated in the first round of doubles.

Her participation in Dallas Open has been confirmed, but she has yet to drop any updates on regular WTA events. She is outside the top 1000 and will need wildcards to participate in these tournaments.

When the wildcards for the Australian Open and its tune-up events are announced, fans will know what's in store for Venus Williams.
