World No. 7 Stefanos Tsitsipas broke the ferocious deep–court defence of Daniil Medvedev by pushing close to the net, a simple-seeming but difficult-to-implement tactic.

Both Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev lost focus multiple times during the match. The World No. 1 kept missing lots of first serves, giving Stefanos time to plan his strategy.

After winning the hard-fought first-set tie-break, Stefanos Tsitsipas narrowly avoided a second-set bagel after trailing 0-5 by pushing to 5-3. However, he failed to convert 0/40, allowing Medvedev to win the second set 6-3.

The third set was an excellent display of high-quality tennis. Stefanos Tsitsipas claimed the lone break of the decider in the sixth game after Daniil Medvedev committed a double fault. He put forth an excellent display of intense net play to serve out the match to secure his victory after two hours and 23 minutes.

The 24-year-old Greek served four aces, won 82% of the points on the first serve and broke the serve of his Russian opponent three times from seven opportunities.

In contrast, Daniil Medvedev served two aces, won 65% of the points on the first serve and won three breakpoints from three opportunities.

After the victory, Stefanos Tsitsipas said, "There were some difficult shots I had to play a bit more. A few short balls I really took advantage of and came in. A lot of courageous serve, volleys and approaches to the net that definitely gave me that great win today."

The victory improved the win-loss record of Stefanos Tsitsipas against Daniil Medvedev to 3-7.

Borna Coric beats Cameron Norrie to advance to his second ATP Masters 1000 final

Borna Coric of Croatia secured a comfortable straight set 6-3, 6-4 victory against British No. 1 Cameron Norrie to advance to the second ATP Masters 1000 final of his career.

The daytime match was postponed by more than four hours due to the rain and began just after 7:30 pm due to a schedule change.

Cameron Norri began the match aggressively and raced to a 1-3 lead. However, Borna Coric upped his game and consecutively won the next five games to clinch the opening set 6-3.

Borna Coric carried on with the winning momentum in the second set and won eight straight games to get a 4-2 lead. He saved the only break point of the set before wrapping up the match on the hardcourt in Cincinnati after one hour and 30 minutes of play.

The 25-year-old Croatian served seven aces, won 80% of the points on the first serve and broke the serve of Cameron Norrie three times from seven opportunities to ensure his victory.

After the victory, Borna Coric said, "At the beginning, I was not there. I was not feeling the ball very well. Then I did find my rhythm. I started to serve better, I started to play much better and I think that was the key to the match."

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Borna Coric of Croatia will lock horns in the title clash of the Cincinnati Open on August 22.
