    Andrey Rublev played aggressively from the get-go and pulled Sebastian Korda corner to corner to secure a straight-set victory after one hour and 17 minutes of play.

    It was the fourth tour-level title of the season for the 24-year-old Russian, having won the trophies at Marseille, Dubai and Belgrade Open earlier this year.

    Top seed Andrey Rublev served three aces, fired 29 winners to four unforced errors, won 74% of the points on the first serve and broke the serve of Sebastian Korda three times from five opportunities.

    In contrast, the 22-year-old American served six aces and won 63% of the points on the first serve and failed to earn any breakpoints.

    It was the 12th Tour-level singles title of his career for Andrey Rublev. It also improved his win-loss record against Sebastian Korda to 2-0.

    Andrey Rublev has enjoyed a strong run en route to his victory at the ATP 250 event on the indoor hardcourt in Spain, beating top players such as Ilya Ivashka, Tommy Paul and Dominic Thiem.

    Sebastian Korda aimed to win his maiden tour-level trophy of the season and second overall. However, he will rise to World No. 36 on the ATP Live Rankings following his run to the championship match at the Gijon Open.

    The chances of Andrey Rublev qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals have improved after lifting the trophy in Gijon. He now stands at the sixth spot on the Pepperstone ATP Live Race To Turin as he aims to qualify for the third consecutive season.
