Hurkacz secured the title on the grass court by beating Medvedev 6-1, 6-4. After Hurkacz defeated Roger Federer and Medvedev in last year's Wimbledon and yesterday's win, there's no reason not to believe that the world no. 12 Hurkacz is ready to shine again in this year's Wimbledon.

After winning his first ATP 500 title, Hurkacz, during his victory speech, said, "I'm super excited; I've been waiting a little bit for my first (title) this year. I'm happy to win my first ATP 500 title, and of course, on the grass, it is very special." He spoke further about the competition with Medvedev and said, "Daniil is an unbelievable player. He's the best player in the world so it's very tricky to play him. All the right shots went my way at the beginning, so I definitely gained momentum from that."

Daniil Medvedev lost the match and his composure

Medvedev is not in great form these days, as this is his 5th straight defeat in a championship he's faced since winning the U.S. Open against Djokovic in 2021. He was severely dominated by Poland's Hurkacz in the Halle Open finals, winning the title in straight sets. In the first set, before Medvedev could tell, the score was already 5-0, and soon Hurkacz finished the game in mere 27 minutes. The second set didn't go any different, allowing Hurkacz to win the tournament against the number one Tennis player in the world Daniil Medvedev. Hurkacz's brilliant performance on the court left Medvedev deeply frustrated, and he lost his cool at the beginning of the second set and fumed and shouted at his coach Gilles Cervara, who was watching the game from the stands.

Daniil Medvedev lost an excellent opportunity to win an important tournament. His name has been struck off from the Wimbledon, starting later this month, because of the Russian ban in Wimbledon. During the presentation ceremony, Medvedev said, "Congrats, Hubert, great match today, great week. Congrats to you and your team. You guys are super nice. Hopefully, a lot more matches to play on the biggest stage. Congrats for a great week and the title."
