The third-seeded German took revenge on Carlos Alcaraz for his clay-court loss in the final of the Madrid Open earlier this month. Alexander Zverev stayed aggressive throughout the match and dominated the early baseline exchanges.

World No. 6 Alexander Zverev made excellent use of his backhand swings to get a clean start in the first set. The German went into the game with confidence and mounted constant pressure on his Spanish opponent. In the fifth game, he converted a breakpoint as Carlos Alcaraz struggled to find his footing to secure the first set.

Alexander Zverev countered trademark drop shots of Carlos Alcaraz with remarkable consistency. He moved forward whenever possible to put pressure on the Spanish teenager. Carlos Alcaraz won the third set and tried to pull a reversal. However, Alexander Zverev bounced back with excellence on Court Philippe Chatrier to secure a semi-final spot at Roland Garros after three hours and 18 minutes of play.

After the match, Alexander Zverev said, "I knew that I had to play my absolute best tennis today, from the start on, and I'm happy that I did that. He kept on coming back. He is an incredible player. I told him at the net that he would win this tournament a lot of times, not only once. I hope I can win it before he starts beating us all, and we will have no chance at all.

It was Zverev's first victory against a top-10 opponent, and he has been putting in his best effort to win his maiden Grand Slam title. His victory broke the 14 matches winning streak of Carlos Alcaraz, who made 56 unfocused errors during the quarter-final.

Alexander Zverev will face Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals of the French Open on June 3.

Marin Cilic beats World No.2 Daniil Medvedev, to secure a semi-final spot at the French Open

Marin Cilic of Croatia defeated US Open champion Daniil Medvedev 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 in the fourth round of the French Open at Stade Roland Garros in just one hour and 45 minutes on May 31.

Marin Cilic completely dominated the one-sided match to secure a straight-set victory. He used strong serves to get frequent advantages and pulled Medvedev from side to side with precise groundstrokes. The 20th seed won 90% of the points on the first serve and faced no breakpoints.

The victory improved his record against top-10 opponents at Roland Garros to 1-10 and 4-21 against top-10 players on clay court.

Marin Cilic said, in a post-match interview, "It was a fantastic match from the first point to the last. I enjoyed the atmosphere and enjoyed the night session here. I played incredible tennis, one of the best matches of my career from start to finish."

Marin Čilić will face Andrey Rublev of Russia in a quarter-final clash at Roland Garros on June 1.
