The two-time Wimbledon champion clinched her first trophy of the season since winning at the Doha Open in 2021 and the 29th of her career. The Czech star had a perfect run at Eastbourne after spending most of the 2022 season on the sidelines due to medical issues.

Jelena Ostapenko was struggling with her service in the opening set. Petra Kvitova took advantage to break her Latvian opponent to get a quick 3-0 lead. She continued to mount pressure on the service of the defending champion as a single break helped her win the first set 6-3.

Jelena Ostapenko kept making unforced errors throughout the second set as she broke her service after firing a weak forehand into the net in the third game. She got five break point opportunities in the fourth game but failed to convert any of them, allowing her Czechian opponent to break the resistance to secure a double break. She fired seven aces and won 98% of the points on the first serve compared to five aces and 89% on the first serve by her Latvian opponent to ease past Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 6-2.

The victory improved the record of Petra Kvitová in the finals grass-court to 5-1. She has rediscovered her grass-court rhythm and confidence to start her Wimbledon campaign as a title favourite.

In a post-match interview, Petra Kvitová said, "I feel great. I enjoyed it today for sure. Overall the whole match was pretty good tennis, I think. I started very well and just kept going. I was trying to push myself the entire tournament, especially in my service games. I know Jelena likes to play on grass. She is the defending champion here. I knew she would be an adamant opponent, and she was today.

Petra Kvitova will next play against Jasmine Paolini of Italy in the first round of the Wimbledon on June 28.
