The indomitable Serb cruised to an incredible tenth title in Melbourne Park on Sunday, cuing a wave of emotion, leaving him sobbing in the Players Box after his triumph.

Djokovic played much of the tournament with a hamstring issue, which appeared to really be troubling him in the early rounds.

But as the grand slam went on, he showed imperious form as he went five straight matches without dropping a set.

Now, in an interview with SEN Sportsday, Tiley revealed that the hamstring issue was far from a niggle, but rather a large tear.

"This guy, I did see he had a three centimetre tear in his hammy," said Tiley.

"The doctors are going to tell you the truth. I think there was a lot of speculation on whether it was true or not.

"It's hard to believe that someone can do what they do with those types of injuries, but he's remarkable.

"He's so focused on everything he does - every single minute of the day. What he eats, what he drinks, when he does it, how he does it. There's no mental breakdown ever in what he does.

"To win ten Australian Opens, I don't think that will ever be repeated."

Tiley's comments shed some light as to the challenges Djokovic alluded to in his on-court interview following his 22nd grand slam win.

"I've tried about every biofeedback machine there is on this planet in order to get my leg ready... and it worked," said Djokovic at the time.

"Only my team and my family know what we've been through in the last four, five weeks. This probably is the biggest victory in my life considering the circumstances."
