The event will continue till July 10 and still house fan favourites although the tournament has been robbed of its points. The charge for the men's draw is now led by Novak Djokovic, the 2021 champion missing as world number one Daniil Medvedev has decided to skip the Grand Slam.

Likewise, Alexander Zverev has opted out of the Grand Slam due to surgery on his broken ankle. Fortunately, Rafael Nadal made it to the entry list despite reports repeatedly hinting at the probability of the Spaniard skipping the event like last year. Carlos Alcaraz, the young star who surprised millions by beating top tennis players including compatriot Nadal, will hope to make a major impact at the event.

As Iga Swiatek enters as the first seed, she is followed by Krejcikova, Badosa, Sakkari and Sofia Kenin who has been off the sport for a long time due to an ankle injury but she used her special rankings exemption to enter as the fifth seed. Meanwhile, fans are thrilled after Serena Williams announced her decision to join as a wildcard. Eugenie Bouchard may also enter as the first alternate, not in the draw.

2022 Wimbledon prize money ATP and WTA with £40,350,000 on offer

As the entry lists have been released, the anticipation for Wimbledon continues with the Prize Money now confirmed. The title winner will be rewarded a record amount of £2million for each men's and women's winner. Finalists will take home £1,050,000 with semi-finalists receiving £535,000 all the way down to £50,000 for first-round losers. It seems like the two things on offer this year are prize money and honour as the ATP, WTA and ITF have decided to strip away the points in response to banning Russians and Belarusians from the tournament. However, there are rumours about the WTA side suggesting that there may be half the points on offer still.
