    The 8th season of the Pro Kabaddi League saw Delhi Capitals as the winners for the first time in the history of the league

    Patna Pirates, who have won the title 4 times in the past, managed to reach the finals of the 8th season as well however, were defeated in the last few moments by Delhi Capitals. Now that the preparations for the 9th season are to begin, it is pertinent to look at the top 5 players to make the most High5s in the last season. Here's a list of the top 5 defenders to play in the 8th season and the number of High5s they scored in the increasing order. 

    Girish Maruti Ernak

    Girish, one of the most important defenders of Gujarat Giants, helped his team win a spot on the points table as one of the top 5 teams with the 4 High5s that he scored. He attempted 120 tackles in total and scored 45 tackle points in the 19 matches that he played last season. Girish holds the 5th position in the top 5 defenders of the 8th season with 4 High5s in the entire season. 

    Jaideep

    Haryana Steelers, one of the best defensive teams of the eighth season, had great defenders like Surender Nada and Jaideep. Despite the presence of Nada in the team, Jaideep managed to hold the 4th position in a tally of the best defenders of the season. Jaideep managed to achieve 66 tackle points and a total of 5 High5s in the 22 matches that he played for the Haryana Steelers. 

    Sombir

    With 5 High5s and 54 tackle points, Sombir holds the 3rd position as the best defender to play in the 8th season. He played a total of 19 matches where he made 112 tackles out of which 54 were successful. With 54 tackles, 6 super tackles, and 5 High5s, Sombir played a great role in taking his team, Puneri Paltan, to the playoffs. 

    Sagar Rathi

    With a tackle success rate of 52%, Sagar Rathi scored 84 tackle points in the entire season. Rathi single-handedly managed the defense of his team, Tamil Thalaivas with 84 tackle points, 8 super tackles, and 8 High5s. Though Tamil Thalaivas did not perform all that well during the season, Sagar Rathi holds the second position in hitting the highest number of High5s. 

    Mohammadreza Chiyaneh

    With the highest number of High5s scored throughout the season (10), Chiyaneh holds the top position. In his debut season itself, Chiyaneh hit the highest number of High5s making it possible for Patna Pitates to once again compete for the title in the finals. With a tackle success rate of 56%, Chiyaneh scored 86 tackle points, 3 super tackles and 10 High5s, offering Patna Pirates the best defense of all teams competing for the title last season.
