Last year's finalists, Spain, recorded their first victory in this year's UEFA Nations League owing to an early goal by Spanish midfielder Pablo Sarabia. Spain took control of the match from the beginning but could only score once. Pablo Sarabia opened the scoring for Spain in the 13th minute with a brilliant close-range shot after receiving a low cross from Marcos Llorente Moreno.

Spain controlled 70% of the ball with Marcos Llorente and Pablo Sarabi at the forefront of the Spanish attack, while forwards Alvaro Morata and Ferran Torres failed to impress. Spanish teenager Gavi performed brilliantly, feeding precise passes to the Spanish attackers.

Switzerland almost equalized the score as Spain made two late blunders. Breel Embolo missed a shot at an empty goal when Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simon was outside the box, while Torres stopped an attempt by Swiss forward Haris Seferovic. Switzerland managed just one shot on target, while Spain took three.

After the match, Spanish manager Luis Enrique said, "It is good to remind people that Switzerland was eight years without losing an official game at home, 23 consecutive games. Winning away from home is very complicated. I think today we played a serious game, tried to impose our style, we suffered like was expected due to the level of our opponent, but I'm pleased with the outcome.”

Spain now sits at the second spot in Group A2 with five points from three games behind chart leaders Portugal and ahead of the Czech Republic. Spain will next face the Czech Republic in Malaga on June 13.

Portugal takes down the Czech Republic 2-0 in Lisbon

Portugal won against the Czech Republic 2-0 in a UEFA Nations League match at José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon, Portugal, on June 10.

João Cancelo in the 33rd minute and Gonçalo Guedes in the 38th minute were the goal scorers for Portugal, while none of the Czech Republic players could score.

Portugal started with a show of strength, but the Czech defenders held the line very well in the game's early stages. Spain finally got a breakthrough in the 33rd minute when Joao Cancelo opened the scoring for Portugal after receiving a pass from Bernardo Silva. Five minutes later, Gonçalo Guedes added another goal to double the lead for the home side.

Portugal continued to dominate the visitors in the second half with the back-to-back attacks of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes. However, their efforts did not turn into goals. The Czech attackers failed to offer much trouble to the Spanish side, and the match ended with a 2-0 victory for the home side.
