Transfer gossip: Manchester United enter the race for a freebie as Erik ten Hag looks to 'stretch budget' to six signings

Manchester United is now in a bid to capture Brentford midfielder Christian Eriksen on a free transfer. The 30-year-old came back to the Premier League this season after Serie A regulations did allow him to play for Inter Milan with the defibrillator he had fitted after collapsing at Euro 2020

However, the Danish international has been a critical player in their campaign, getting four assists and a goal in ten starts in the second half. An impressive record has attracted top clubs, including United, who are sure about their interest in Eriksen. We're aware of Ten Hag's motive "to make his budget stretch as far as possible as he plots to bring in six new signings this summer."

The new manager had allowed Eriksen to train with his Ajax squad to accelerate his recovery earlier in the season. His performances under Thomas Frank have ten Hag convinced that the club needs Eriksen for the rebuild. Tottenham and Everton are the two other clubs targeting the midfielder. The Spurs, who finished fourth in the Premier League, can offer him Champions League football. The Bees have contributed to making him the club's highest-paid player, hoping to retain him, but it is not known whether he wants to go back to White Hart Lane or desires to be a part of Ten Hag's future in Manchester.

Gabriel Jesus is to be offered a higher wage if he joins Arsenal.

Gabriel Jesus is looking at a significant wage increase if he leaves Manchester City and joins Arsenal in the summer transfer window. The 25-year-old has 13 goals and nine assists across 41 appearances. He notably exhibited good form towards the end of the campaign, which impressed the Gunners, visibly showing their interest in Jesus. Unfortunately, Arsenal's failure in securing a spot in the Champions League on the final day of the Premier League has lessened the chances of a potential transfer. Hence, they have chosen to extend a more significant offer to finalise a deal this summer.

Arsenal is reportedly ready to offer Jesus nearly £200,000-a-week in an attempt to capture his signature, with Manchester City planning to initiate talks with his representatives over the next few days. Arsenal has already interacted with his agent Marcelo Pettinati and is offering better terms, including bonuses, than teams in Italy and Spain, who are also eyeing him. Signing to Arsenal would ensure better money and a substantial increase for the Brazilian. He currently earns £110k a week at Manchester City. However, his close ties with Mikel Arteta might favour the Gunners. The city will still take £50million for Jesus even though he has one year remaining on his current contract.
