Tottenham thrashed Aston Villa 4-0; Son Heung-Min scores a hat trick

    Tottenham Hotspurs won against Aston Villa 4-0 in a Premier League match at Villa Park Stadium on April 9, 2022. Son Heung- Min gave the visitors a perfect start with a goal three minutes into the game.

    Tottenham inched closer to securing a Champions League spot with their fourth consecutive victory. French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had to work extra hard; He made seven consecutive saves in the first half to help Tottenham maintain their lead.

    Son Heung Min scored a hat trick, with goals in the 3rd, 66th and 71st minutes and Dejan Kulusevski in the 50th minute were the goal scorers for Tottenham, while none of the players from Aston Villa was able to score.

    Tottenham took an early lead with a simple goal. A poor header by Ezri Konsa reached Harry Kane outside the box. Kane's wide shot landed calmly on Heung's feet, who then landed the ball in the bottom left corner of the goal, giving Tottenham a 1-0 lead. The first half ended with no other goal scored.

    Dejan Kulusevski doubled the lead as another poor header from Villa was intercepted by Kane, who sent it towards Kulusevski. He rushed towards the goal and shot the ball into the lower right corner of the net. Sixty-five minutes into the game, Son scored his second goal of the match with an impressive pass from Harry Kane. Just five minutes later, Son completed his hat trick by converting a pass from Dejan Kulusevski. 

    Aston Villa gave a good fight. They were able to keep their possession at 52% and had a slightly higher pass accuracy than Tottenham. They took 19 shots compared to Tottenham's 11 but failed to convert any of them into a goal.

    Tottenham is now at the fourth spot on the Premier League table, three points ahead of Arsenal. Both teams are aiming for a Champions League spot in the next season.

    Tottenham will now lock horns with Brighton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 16.
