Second leg of Semi Final of Indian Soccer league to go ahead on March 15

    The last stage of the Indian Soccer League, second leg of semi final on March 15 and March 16 will determine if the much fancier clubs like Jamshedpur FC and ATK Mohan Bagan FC get knocked out of the tournament.

    Kerala Blaster have a slender 1 point advantage over  Jamshedpur FC and Hyderbad FC have a 2 points advantage over ATK Mohan Bagan FC .

    The Hero Indian Super League culminated its league stage in early March and Owen Coyle's Jamshedpur FC topped the tables with 43 points from 20 matches.

    Jamshedpur FC played won 13 matches, lost just 3 and 4 matches ended up a draw for the club. The table-toppers won the league winner’s shield after beating ATK Mohun Bagan 1-0.

    Having earned that Jamshedpur FC has now qualified straight for the group-stage admission in the AFC Champions League following season.

    The other teams that qualified for the semi-finals are Kerala Blasters, ATK Mohun Bagan, and Hyderabad FC.

    Highlights from the First leg of the Semi-finals: Kerala vs. Jamshedpur

    Jamshedpur FC  had a great start to the season. However, come the sixth win, Jamshedpur FC lost 3 and ended up drawing 4 of their next matches. But their loss to Bengaluru FC gave them a wake-up call. After this defeat, the club went on to build a seven-match winning streak in the later matches of the league. 

    It was only the first leg of the semi-finals that the Kerala Blasters broke their streak with a 1-0 win. The only goal was scored by Sahal Abdul Samad in the first half of the match. Unlike the Jamshedpur FC, the Kerala Blasters had a bumpy ride, and they intensely competed with Mumbai City FC for the fourth spot. 

    The first leg of the Semi-Final match has given the Kerala Blasters a 1 point aggregate over the Jamshedpur FC and remains to be seen if the league stage toppers can recover from this and qualify for the Finals.

    Their first match in the league ended in a 1-1 draw, but their second meeting ended in a 3-0 victory for Jamshedpur FC .

    Highlights from the first leg of the Semi-finals: ATK Mohun Bagan FC  vs. Hyderabad FC

    Among the teams that qualified for the semis, Hyderabad was the second. They finished second after Jamshedpur with 11 victories. They won 38 points, drew five, and lost four.

    They faced ATK Mohun Bagan FC in the semis. In both matches between these two sides in the league stage, the first ended in a 2-2 draw while the second ended with ATK Mohun Bagan FC beating Hyderabad FC 2-1.

    However, the young guns of Hyderabad FC  created a spectacle as the club beat the ATK Mohan Bagan FC for the first time ever in their most successful season.

    ATK Mohan Bagan FC lost an entertaining game to Hyderabad FC thanks to Bartholomew Ogbeche, Mohammad Yasir, and Javier Siverio. With this, Hyderabad now have a 2-goal aggregate over ATK Mohun Bagan FC in the first leg of the semi-finals 2022 with a 3-1 finish.

    In midseason, Mohun Bagan parted ways with manager Antonio Lopez after a winless streak of four matches. After appointing Juan Ferrando as their new manager, Mohun Bagan went on a 12-match unbeaten streak, helping them qualify for the semis, finishing third with 37 points. The team maintained an unbeaten run of 15 matches.

    When is the second leg of Hero ISL 2022 semi-finals?

    The second leg of Hero ISL starts on 15th March as Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur FC lock horns again at Tilak Maidan. Currently, the Kerala Blasters have a 1 point aggregate over the table toppers. 

    The second match of the second leg will  feature ATK Mohun Bagan and Hyderbad FC. Here, the latter will walk into the match with a 2 point aggregate over the former. The match will be played at GMC Athletic Stadium on 16th March.

    The final for Hero ISL 2022 will be played on 20th March.
