Premier League: Match report - Manchester United VS Brentford, Bees humiliate The Red Devils with 4-0 demolition

Manchester United fell to the bottom of the early Premier League standings on Saturday after a 4-0 hammering at Brentford in Cristiano Ronaldo's first appearance of the 2022-23 season

Manchester United is sinking Manchester United is sinking

After losing 2-1 to Brighton in their first encounter, Manchester United fell 4-0 away to Brentford, surrendering all four goals in the first half.

Brentford played well, and United's defensive mistakes, combined with a lack of attacking commitment, handed the Bees their first Premier League victory over the Red Devils.

If the new Manchester United manager thought the loss to Brighton last weekend was terrible, this was considerably worse.

The tragic afternoon for Manchester United began in the usual fashion, with David de Gea allowing Josh Dasilva's feeble, low shot between his hands and into the back of the net 10 minutes in.

Brentford led 4-0 after only 30 minutes and then spent the rest of the game toying with Ten Hag's team.

Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee, and Bryan Mbeumo scored in 25 minutes to hand the visitors a humbling defeat.

Ten Hag, who gave Cristiano Ronaldo his first start of the season, responded to United's poor first-half performance by changing Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, and Fred at halftime, although very few United players deserved to be on after the first 45 minutes.

The first two goals came from blunders by Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, then Mee out-jumped £47 million, signing Lisandro Martinez for the third.

On August 22, they will face Liverpool at Old Trafford
