Premier League: Crystal Palace is in the top 10 while Nottingham Forest remains in the relegation zone

Nottingham Forest played out a 0-0 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion F.C., whereas Crystal Palace rallied to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. 2-1 in mid-week Premier League action on Tuesday (October 18)

Forest battled hard to secure only their second away point of the season against a Brighton side that created plenty of chances.

It is telling that they had 19 shots on goal, yet arguably their best chance came when Leandro Trossard hit the woodwork. Frustratingly for Brighton, they could not break down a stubborn Forest defense.

The draw takes Forest off the foot of the table, with Leicester City F.C. now in the 20th position in the standings. However, the newly-promoted side remains mired in the relegation zone and will need a turnaround of epic proportions to secure their survival.

They’ve taken only one win so far in the season and haven’t won a match in their last five games. Brighton, on the other hand, remains comfortably in seventh.

Another team that could soon find themselves in the relegation scrap is Wolves FC, who are only one point clear off the drop zone but could well be in the bottom three should Southampton win their game against Bournemouth.

Wolves took the lead against Palace thanks to a goal from Adama Traore, who headed home from a cross courtesy of debutant Hugo Bueno.

Ruben Neves hit the woodwork from a free-kick just before half-time, and the miss proved costly – Palace were level two minutes into the second half.

It was Eberechi Eze who brought the Eagles level, and from then on, they looked the better side – as well as the one likelier to score again.

Sure enough, the winning goal came about 20 minutes from time, courtesy of Wilfried Zaha, who slotted home a low shot to guarantee Palace all three points.

Palace is currently five points off the drop zone and unlikely to be caught up in a relegation dogfight. But the same cannot be said about Southampton, Forest, and Leicester City.

As of now, Leicester would be the team likeliest to turn things around, given the quality they possess. After all, they were competing for European spots in the last season. However, they need a massive turnaround in form – and soon.

Forest is struggling with integrating so many new signings into the team while also trying to settle into life back in the top flight.

Most teams that hit the ground running upon promotion have settled core players, adding a few players to increase the bench.

However, Forest brought in a whopping 22 players – the equivalent of an entire playing XI and their backups.

They seem destined for the drop unless something drastic happens, and they start to function as a team sooner rather than later.

As for Southampton, they too have the quality to finish above the drop zone and, in Ralph Hassenhutl, a highly rated manager across Europe.

But they, too, need to go on a decent run of games to stave off any chances of being caught up in the scrap-fight that is the relegation battle.
