The Brazilian striker has been out for nearly a month due to a muscle injury, but could feature for a Reds side that is looking to keep the pressure on league leaders Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Liverpool enter Saturday’s early kick-off in second place, six points behind City but with a game in hand, so will be looking to close the gap ahead of City’s trip to Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

Klopp was philosophical about catching his Mancunian rivals. Speaking in his press conference before the Brighton match, he said, "So far the boys did incredibly well and why shouldn't I think we can't go on? It's hard work but the boys are ready. We will try everything, but we cannot call it a title race because we are still behind. We try to win football games, but let's see."

On the injury front, Klopp also warned that COVID is not yet over, and that it could affect the available squad.

He said: "We had a few little things but nobody is out of training. On top of that, COVID is not over, so these things, we've had. We try everything to avoid but it's not always possible. Players and staff have no symptoms but cannot be involved."

Meanwhile, he also talked about the situation regarding Mo Salah’s contract, which ends in the summer of 2023.

On this, Klopp stated, "Mo expects this club to be ambitious. We cannot do much more. It is Mo's decision. It is all fine from my point of view. Nothing happened further, no signing or rejection. We just have to wait, there's no rush."

He is also expecting a tough game down on the South Coast, saying, "Brighton are not the best in the world but they are incredibly good. We're not the best in the world but nice words (from manager Graham Potter). He knows his football and knows he has a big chance to make us struggle."
