Inter defeat Juventus to win the Coppa Italia in a thrilling final

    Inter Milan defeated Juventus 3-2 at Stadio Olimpico on May 12 in a dramatic match, with two extra-time goals by Ivan Perisic to seal the Coppa Italia title victory

    Inter Milan had a brilliant start, with Nicolo Barella firing into the net past Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin six minutes into the first half. Juventus tried to fight back as Samir Handanovic attempted to rush towards the goal but failed to get past Inter’s wall of defence. Argentine forward Matthijs de Ligt sent the ball wide open, failing to beat the Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanović.

    Juventus started the second half aggressively, scoring the equalizer in the 50th minute with a shot by Alex Sandro that went into the bottom left corner of the net after a slight deflection by Spanish forward Álvaro Morata. Just two minutes later, Juventus got the lead with a closed ranged shot by Dušan Vlahović, who pounced on the rebound after Samir Handanović blocked his first shot.

    Inter Milan dominated the ball and pushed for an equalizer but struggled to create a goal. However, the Nerazzurri finally got a much-needed penalty when Juventus’s defence faltered in the 79th minute. Hakan Calhanoglu stepped up for the occasion and sent the ball into the top right corner with a hard strike, sending the match into extra time.

    Inter Milan received another penalty in the ninth minute of the extra time. Ivan Perišić stepped up and fired the ball into the top-left net with a perfect shot, sending Mattia Perin the other way. Just three minutes later, Ivan Perišić sent the ball into the top-right corner of the net, sealing the title victory for Inter Milan.
