Rumour is Manchester United might be planning to engage Ward Prouse as one of the central midfielders under Hag's coachmanship. However, they're not expected to have an easy way of hiring him as their city rival; Manchester City is also equally fond of this superstar.

Reportedly, Pep Guardiola, the boss of Manchester City, is in awe of Prouse's skill and performance. He referred to him as the best dead ball specialist in the football game worldwide. Such an incredible compliment coming from the boss of City leaves no doubt that United could be facing severe competition from their blue rivals.

Aston Villa tried to steal him away from St. Mary's last summer over a bid of £25m but failed. While Arsenal and Liverpool are also reportedly looking forward to having him in their teams, he's been targeted by the 2 English clubs for the immediate summer. Reports say that if he is absorbed in the European Football scene this summer, he won't go anywhere below £60 million. Though he's highly comfortable at Southampton, if he wants to play the next World Cup in Qatar, switching to European Football Leagues may help him significantly.

James Ward Prouse has gone very close to the Manchester United legend David Beckham's direct free-kick goals record by scoring the highest free-kicks this Premier League for Southampton. While Beckham holds the record of 18 free kicks, Prouse has already scored 14.

On being asked about chasing the Red Devils' legend's record, Prouse said, "My primary motivation is to meet my hero from when I was a kid. Hopefully, he'll reach out if I get that record, but there's a long way to go."

Seeing his terrific performance this season, it isn't surprising that such big clubs are looking for an opportunity to grab this superstar. It will be interesting to see the bidding war between City and United are willing to get this 27-year-old talent.

Mohamed Salah will stay in  Liverpool

Football insider is told that a new agreement between Liverpool and Mohamed Salah can now materialise very quickly. This agreement has been in talks for a long time now, with Salah looking for a paycheck to make him the highest-paid player in the club's history. According to a close source, Salah is willing and interested in playing with Liverpool, so he has decided to compromise on his demand of a £500,000-a-week wage.

The 29-year-old is not in his most excellent form, but the Merseysiders are expected to offer him four years. That's a massive commitment from their side, as it means sticking with a player over 30. It is rumoured that the whole deal could be worth more than £80million. With such a vast deal, Salah will be among the top earners in the football world, but many would argue that it's a pay he well deserves.

Liverpool was interested in retaining the star Egyptian from the start but hesitated to listen to his £500,000-a-week demand to stay at Anfield. Salah supporters claimed that the demand was not outrageous considering his achievements in the red jersey. But his hand in the negotiations was weakened by his subpar performance at the African Cup of Nations.

A controversy was created earlier when Ramy Abbas Issa, Salah's agent, responded publicly to Jurgen Klopp's statements "it's all completely fine" and "there's no rush" using laughing emojis on his social media account. But this all is in the past now, with all the wrinkles smoothened out, and the star forward is looking to spend four more years at Liverpool.

In other news, Sao Paulo attacker Marquinhos is set to move to Arsenal for a €3.5m deal. The 19-year-old Brazilian had already had some experience since he signed his first contract when he was 16. His contract with the Serie A team is set to expire in 2024, but, according to sources, Arsenal will be able to sign him early because of some complications surrounding his contract.
