Former Bayer Leverkusen boss Gerardo Seoane appointed head coach of Borussia Monchengladbach

    Gerardo Seoane is the new head coach at Borussia Monchengladbach after signing a three-year contract with the club on Wednesday.

    <p>Borussia Monchengladbach have appointed former Bayer Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane as their new head coach.</p>

    <p>The 44-year-old Swiss tactician was most recently head coach at Leverkusen (July 2021 to October 2022), before that he spent three years at Young Boys Bern in Switzerland, where he won the Swiss championship three times in a row and the cup once.</p>

    <p>Patrick Schnarwiler (assistant coach) and Nicolas Dyon (physical coach) will be part of Seoane's coaching team.</p>

    <p>"Gerardo Seoane has worked successfully in various positions in recent years. He is a young but already experienced coach who fits our approach to football and we are delighted to have him at Borussia Mönchengladbach from now on," said Roland Virkus, Borussia's sporting director.</p>

    <p>In addition to the appointment of a new head coach, Borussia have named Nils Schmadtke as their new sports director.</p>

    <p>"With these personnel decisions, we are broadening our position in the sporting directorate," explains Virkus.</p>

    <p>"Nils Schmadtke is taking over the organizational management of the license area. In future he will be part of the sporting management team of our license area alongside Steffen Korell (director of scouting and squad planning) and myself. We expect the reorganization of the development department under the leadership of Philipp Schützendorf to have lasting effects on the continuous improvement of our licensed players and our talents."</p>
