Football News: Adam Aznou poached, Bayern Munich payback to Barcelona

Bayern Munich has had an excellent transfer window in 2022. Noussair Mazraoui, Ryan Gravenberch, Sadio Mane, Matthijs de Ligt, and most recently, Mathys Tel have all entered the professional ranks

After bringing in players like Lovro Zvonarek and Antonio Tikvic, they are now bringing in Adam Aznou, a highly skilled young prospect from FC Barcelona.

According to renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Adam Aznou has reportedly left Barcelona to join Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window. The 16-year-old prodigy has signed a five-year contract with the German club after joining the Bavarian giants on a free transfer.

Everything we know about Adam Aznou

The most outstanding talent to come out of Barcelona's renowned La Masia academy is Adam Aznou.

Aznou, a left-back regarded as the greatest in his position within Barcelona's academy ranks, was born in Barcelona to Moroccan parents.

The young prodigy has been steadily improving over the last three years at the Catalan club and played for the Cadet A team during the recently finished season.

The Spanish prodigy has also made it onto his country's under-16 squad, even though he can eventually play for Morocco. Aznou's time with Barcelona has come to an end, and the 16-year-old is no longer a member of the team.

Barcelona offered the Spain youth international a new contract and an age-group promotion this summer, but he declined.

And to gain access to first-team football more quickly, the Barcelona prodigy is moving to Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window.

The young Spanish left-back turned down offers to play for other powerhouse clubs, including Real Madrid, RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, Benfica, and Borussia Dortmund, in favour of joining Bayern. Long-term replacement for Alphonso Davies, he has been acquired.

Bayern Munich's campus athletic director, Holger Seitz, was delighted to welcome the gifted youngster to his squad.

"Adam enjoyed an excellent education at La Masia at FC Barcelona. We are very happy to have won him for FC Bayern and to the fact that he wants to take his next steps on campus. Adam is a creative wing-back with a lot of attacking drive. He is quick, strong technically, and has good crosses."

Aznou also commented on his transfer, "Bayern tried very hard for me… I'm very happy about this move and looking forward to continuing my education at this big club."

Aznou joins French striker Mathys Tel in joining Bayern this week in a deal worth up to €28.5 million (£24m/$29m). Mathys Tel arrived from Rennes in a deal worth up to €28.5 million (£24m/$29m).

Due to their propensity to steal the finest players from other German teams and European clubs, the Bundesliga champions do not necessarily have the best reputation for developing young people into world-class individuals.

That does not imply that some of Bayern Munich's brightest talents don't rise through the ranks.

Aznou will aim to have a successful future at Bayern Munich and may face off against Alphonso Davies.

However, the 16-year-old Spanish prodigy will initially play for the Bavarian club's youth team to quickly earn a spot on the first-team roster.

Interestingly, this summer's transfer market has seen a rematch between Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Famously, the Catalan giants snatched Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, and the Polish striker made a significant transfer to Camp Nou. Kenan Yildiz was also a target for Barcelona, although he ended up signing with Juventus.

When Aznou left Barcelona to join Bayern Munich, he signed a three-year deal that would last until June 30, 2025. Aznou also has the chance to sign a professional contract with the Bundesliga powerhouses as part of the agreement.
