England holds Germany off to a 1-1 tie; Italy wins to top Group

    Jonas Hofmann in the 50th minute was the lone goal scorer for Germany, while Harry Kane in the 88th minute was the only one to score for England.

    Germany looked more assertive and had more control of the ball. Jonas Hofmann opened the scoring for Germany with a brilliant shot past the English goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to give the home side a 1-0 lead. Substitute Jack Grealish helped England to create opportunities and gave them an extra edge. Nico Schlotterbeck committed a foul in the German penalty box, giving England a penalty. Harry Kane took the shot and slotted the ball into the net to make it 1-1 with his 50th International goal for England.

    Following the match, Harry Kane said, "I love scoring goals. I have always loved it, especially for my country. Whenever I can help the team, I am glad to do that. It is really important to show the mentality; 1-0 behind, we showed good character to get back into the game and get a result. We are playing against a very good German side. We still have important matches, but the World Cup will be here before we know it."

    Italy beats Hungary 2-1 to top Group 3

    The Italian squad won against Hungary 2-1 in a UEFA Nations League match at The Stadio Dino Manuzzi in Cesena FC, Italy, on June 8.

    Nicolo Barella in the 30th minute and Lorenzo Pellegrini in the 45th minute were the goal scorers for the Italian side. Gianluca Mancini, in the 61st minute, own goal gave a lifeline to Hungary.

    Nicolò Barella opened the scoring for Italy with a shot into the top corner of the net from the edge of the penalty box after receiving a pass from Leonardo Spinazzola. In the last minute of the first half, Lorenzo Pellegrini doubled the lead for Italy with a low-level shot past the Hungarian goalkeeper, Denes Dibusz after receiving a well-placed pass from Matteo Politano. Hungary managed to narrow the lead to 2-1 in the second half with thanks to an own goal by Italian defender Gianluca Mancini.

    After the win, Italy moved to the top spot on the League A Group 3 charts with four points from two matches.

    Manager of Italy, Roberto Mancini, said, "It was a good match in the first half, but their goal put us in a tough place. We should have won by a much higher margin. We were also a bit tired, it is normal. To concede a goal in a match that should have already been finished off is difficult. We are a young side who will have to work hard. Our start has been good."
