After giving an angry television interview in which he claimed to feel betrayed by Manchester United and that he did not respect their Dutch boss Erik ten Hag, the 37-year-old attacker departed the club last month.

"I'm excited to play in a new football league in a foreign nation. The goal of Al Nassr Club is really motivating, "The Saudi publication mentioned Ronaldo.

After a stellar time at Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018, during which he won two La Liga championships, two Spanish Cups, four Champions League crowns, and three Club World Cups, Ronaldo will arrive in Saudi Arabia with a bevvy of club honours.

"We're going to see a lot less of him, obviously," Neville commented"It tells us a couple of things. One, how serious Saudi Arabia are about football. They aren't going away. They've invested £350m on one player. They are trying to strengthen the league."

"But I had the impression that Cristiano Ronaldo would prefer to remain in one of the top European leagues for the remainder of this season and continue to score goals. might locate a Champions League team."

"It indicates to me that the offer is excellent. Perhaps he wasn't selected by the club he desired in Europe, thus, he had this choice. Sadness because Ronaldo's playing at the highest level has likely ended."

"If both parties had handled the situation differently, we might have seen it continue at Old Trafford. That had to cease; it had to end before to the World Cup. In the end, it was inevitable."

Added Jamie Carragher, "It's a sad ending for him in some respects. Messi and Ronaldo are two of the best players ever. Ronaldo ended his career during an interview with Piers Morgan, and Messi won the World Cup. It's hardly the ideal way to leave."
