FIH Hockey Pro League: England defeats South Africa 3-0 in the second leg

    Within the regulation time, Albery James in the 4th minute, Calnan Will in the 13th and Griffiths Christopher in the 54th minute were the goal scorers for England. In contrast, none of the South African players was able to score.

    The English squad stormed to record their fourth consecutive victory of the season. England completely dominated the first half as Albery James opened the scoring for the home side just five minutes into the game with his first international goal. He slotted the ball into the net on a rebound from a penalty corner shot by Nick Bandurak. Calnan Will doubled the lead for England on a penalty corner with an excellent drag flick into the top corner of the net. The first quarter ended with a 2-0 lead for England.

    England tried to widen their lead in the next two quarters, but Siyavuya Noluthshungu made remarkable saves for South Africa. In the 56th minute, Griffiths Christopher fired the ball that came bouncing to him into the net. The match ended with England emerging victorious with a 3-0.

    In a post-match interview, Will Calnan said, "Another tough go of a game. We knew South Africa would come out hard, but I am proud of the boys today. We had an excellent effort to keep a clean sheet. It is always nice to score goals. We were very focused on the moment and taking it as it came.

    England moved one spot above Belgium with 22 points in 12 matches. In contrast, South Africa sits at the bottom spot with just one point scored in 12 games.

    Spanish women's hockey team defeat England 2-0

    In the women's event, Spain won against England with a 2-0 in the second leg at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, England, on May 29.

    Spain took revenge for the 3-1 defeat against England in the first leg of the match with a 2-0 victory in the second leg. England launched back to back attacks, but the Spanish side halted their efforts with an impressive defensive display. Gine Xantal put Spain in the lead at the beginning of the second quarter with a slick penalty corner. Segu Marta doubled the lead for Spain after receiving a pass from Alejandra Torres-Quevedo.

    In a post-match interview, Gigi Oliva said, "We are pleased and happy because yesterday was not our match, and today we performed much better. We have some details we have to improve. We got the result. Melanie Garcia saved maybe five goals, so she deserves Player of the Game.
