Hockey News: Australia beat India 7-4 to take a 2-0 series lead 

Within the regulation time, Blake Govers scored in the 12th, 27th, and 53rd minute, Jack Welch in the 17th and 24th minute, Tom Craig in the 41st minute, Jacob Anderson in the 48th minute and Jake Whetton in the 49th minute.

For India, Harmanpreet Singh scored in the 3rd and 60th minutes, Hardik Singh in the 25th minute and Raheel Mohammed in the 36th minute.

India started well, earning a penalty corner three minutes into the match. Harmanpreet Singh took the shot and slotted the ball past Australian goalkeeper Johan Durst to open the scoring.

Australia began scrambling to take control after conceding an early goal and their efforts paid off as Blake Govers fired the ball into the Indian goal from a penalty corner to level the score.

The home side took complete control of the game in the second quarter. Jack Welch placed the Indian defence on the back foot with his back-to-back attacks and scored twice within eight minutes to make it 3-1 for Australia.

India launched a counter-attack after a minor interruption, allowing midfielder Hardik Singh to narrow the deficit to 3-2. However, Blake Govers slotted another goal for Australia two minutes later. The first half ended with a 4-2 lead for the home side.

After the ten-minute break, the visiting side returned to the field with renewed vigour and momentum. Raheel Mohammed slotted the ball into the Australian goal with a slight deflection on an excellent drag-flick by Harmanpreet Singh in the 36th minute.

Australia completely shifted their focus to attack in the final quarter. They went all guns blazing as Jacob Anderson and Jake Whetton scored two goals in quick succession, followed by another goal by Blake Govers from a penalty stroke that completed his hat-trick.

India earned a penalty corner in the final quarter's dying minutes, followed by the visitors being awarded a stroke by the umpire. Harmanpreet Singh converted quickly, making it 7-4 as the match ended in triumph for Australia.

The Indian men's hockey squad will face Australia in the third match of the India Tour of Australia on November 30.
