Prince Harry's Invictus Games to feature esports side event in League of Legends

    The Invictus Games, which is a gaming event organized by Prince Harry for the benefit of ill, wounded or hurt service workers and veterans, is including sports in its various categories this year.

    This is made possible with the help of H2O Esports Campus, an Amsterdam-based entity.

    This edition of the Invictus Games, to be held in Hague, is sponsored by Jaguar Land Rover. Visitors will see an esports tent in the Zuiderpark in the free to enter the section of the event. Probable games include famous titles like League Of Legends, Mario Kart Tour, etc.

    The games will also feature lots of prizes to be won, sponsored by companies like Nintendo and HyperX, and many more. Microsoft is also contributing to making this event successful by providing its latest controller which aids players with restricted movements to better enjoy the game. This technology of Microsoft is called Xbox Adaptive Controller.

    Invictus Games is also planning to launch a closed Discord server for veterans. The idea is that this will provide a community feel to the gamers and will help them recover and deal with their struggles. It will also create more solidarity within the community,

What we are now interested in is understanding how this could be tailored as part of a recovery pathway from injury or illness, exploring the benefits that participation in esports could bring to the community, and unlocking innovative ways of facilitating digital connections between the international community.”

    In a statement on this collaboration with Invictus Gaming Matthijs Vink, CEO of H20 Esports Campus, said: “Gaming and esports are inclusive to everybody throughout the variety of physical capabilities. H20 Esports Campus and the Invictus Games Foundation share worth in seeing competitors as methods to motivate, inspire, and regard one another. H20 Esports Campus is proud to be helping the Invictus Games Foundation to bring esports and active sports together in a pathway to recovery for the international community of wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women.”

    The Invictus Games event didn't take place in the last couple of years in the wake of the pandemic. This year's edition will take place from April 16th to 22nd. It includes 10 sports categories with participants from over 20 countries.
