Paraiso removed from Overwatch 2 map pool due to bug

Blizzard has removed the Paraiso map from Overwatch 2's live rotation after a game-breaking bug enabled Mercy players to manipulate opponents' frame rates.

The bug, which surfaced in competitive servers, prompted the developers to investigate and address the issue.

An updated blog post from the OW2 team stated that the Rio de Janeiro landscape would not be available until further notice. However, Mercy can still be played on other maps since the bug does not affect them.

The exploit required Mercy players to perform multiple steps, culminating in combining her staff and pistol, resulting in significant frame rate drops for other players.

This glitch allowed Mercy users to briefly disrupt gameplay and gain easy kills.

While players could escape the glitch by leaving and rejoining or by not selecting their hero before the spawn doors opened, Blizzard deemed it necessary to address the issue promptly despite the potential workarounds.

It's worth noting that similar bugs have affected other Overwatch heroes in the past, such as Genji's perpetual dragon animation.

Currently, the exploit has only been observed on the Paraiso map.
