NBA 2K24 becomes the lowest-rated game on Steam
NBA 2K24 has become the worst-rated Steam game of all time, just over a week since Visual Concepts released the latest instalment of the long-running franchise.
This ignominious distinction was previously held by Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch 2, which made its debut in Early Access in 2022 and officially launched in August of the same year.
However, in an unprecedented turn of events, NBA 2K24 managed to surpass Overwatch 2's record in a remarkably short span of time.
The grievances voiced by consumers about NBA 2K24 echo those that have plagued previous entries in the series. The pervasive issue of microtransactions, particularly the pay-to-win element in online play, where players can acquire high-level characters for a price, continues to draw criticism.
Furthermore, the PC version of NBA 2K24 has come under heavy fire. Many players have expressed disappointment, stating that the game's visuals are strikingly similar to its predecessors, despite promises of substantial visual upgrades.
While the console versions appear to have benefitted from these enhancements, the PC edition has been left with the same old aesthetics.
To compound matters, the PC version has also been marred by numerous reports of bugs and glitches, rendering it almost unplayable.
The question of whether Visual Concepts will address these glaring issues in the foreseeable future remains unanswered. For now, and potentially for a considerable period, NBA 2K24 holds the unenviable title of the worst-rated game on Steam.
