Minecraft content on YouTube surpassing 1 Trillion views on YouTube by 2021.

One of the world’s most popular video games, Mojang’s First-person perspective, open-world, Sandbox video game, Minecraft, took the world by storm in 2009.

Since its inception, the game has been made available on many platforms. Which has in turn made it the best-selling video game of all time.

The record includes the sales of more than 240 million copies, coupled with more than 100 million active players.

The simplicity of the game has been one of the major factors of its success, not only does the game sit well with an audience of younger age but also with a relatively large chunk of adults as well. “celebrating 1,000,000,000,000 views of @Minecraft videos ? thanks to you & all the creators who built this special place on YouTube,” YouTube announced as it marked the tremendous achievement.

Minecraft’s popularity in India

There are over 35,000 Minecraft creators on YouTube from 150 countries and territories, including India.

The game has done phenomenally on the global stage and made strides in many markets. One of them is the ever-expanding Indian market. Although the game is not as popular in India as in other western countries, it does have a hefty following here too.

Many big Indian creators on the platform are vocal about the game and one of them includes MythPat, one of India’s most popular video-game creators.

"BGMI is of course a very big game, as is Free Fire but even Minecraft because it is on mobile too thanks to the Pocket Edition, it's huge in India… Everybody has access to Minecraft on their phone so the audience really likes watching Minecraft content," said Mithilesh Patankar.

Minecraft gameplay

Minecraft gameplay is pretty simple and complex at the same time as there are endless possibilities in the game to build and play with.

New players, when starting the game have default character skin of either Steve or Alex, however, custom skins have also been made available in the game.

Among the game modes are a survival mode, where players must acquire resources to build worlds and maintain health, and a creative mode with unlimited resources and flight ability.

Players are able to modify the game by creating their own gameplay mechanics, items, and assets.

Other gameplay modes are-

• Adventure mode
• Spectator mode

In addition to choosing from five game modes, players can choose from four difficulties, ranging from peaceful to difficult.

By increasing the difficulty of the game, the player will take more damage from mobs and will experience other difficulty-specific effects.

The Minecraft world is made up of ‘blocks’. Players are able to mine ‘blocks’ and place them differently to build things.

Additionally, the game contains a material known as redstone, which can be used to make primitive mechanical devices, electrical circuits, and logic gates, allowing players to construct a wide variety of complex systems.

The terrain in Minecraft is made up of plains, mountains, forests, caves, and lava/water bodies. A full cycle of in-game time is equal to 20 real-time minutes.
