Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea discusses eSports after launching Rebel Gaming

David de Gea has been a crucial part of Manchester United. He is considered to be one of the top goalkeepers in the world and has enjoyed a brilliant career. The Spanish goalkeeper is now branching out into the world of esports. He is an avid gamer whose passion for gaming dates back years. He usually plays video games in his spare time off the pitch and has claimed his preferred game to play is Rainbow Six Siege.

Rebel Gaming has established a gaming compound in Madrid, which also acts as a training/event space. The organisation will field rosters in Rainbow Six Siege, League of Legends and Valourant. Content creators and viewers will also get the opportunity to join the organisation.

In an interview with United magazine, David de Gea said, “A year and a half ago, I was talking with Jose, one of the guys I trust and work with. He knows I am in love with video games, so we were talking about making our club.“So that’s how it started. We started step by step, we made Rebels, so we are proud.”

Being an experienced football player, David de Gea will be able to pass on valuable experience and advice that will help his esports players perform well and thrive in their esports careers.

David de Gea commented, “ I take situations calmly on and off the field. I am trying to show them that this is my experience in football. There are some words there. We put them there to show the players – be calm, take things calmly. “Of course, the pressure is always there. It doesn’t matter if it’s a video game or if it’s football – if you are competing, the pressure is always there. So, you have to deal with the pressure and always be very strong in your mind.

David further added, “We want to make a proper brand, where people like the brand, and of course try to put the teams in Europe to compete with the best teams, and then we like the entertainment part of this business as well. So, we are building some entertainment for the people, the fans, to enjoy.”
