While it might not be the highly anticipated League of Legends 2, the gaming giant is confident that these enhancements will pave the way for significant and high-quality changes to the long-standing multiplayer online battle arena.

Leading League engineer, Robin 'Spawndog' Maddock, unveiled the promising news on 22nd November, emphasising that the implemented technology upgrades empower the Riot development team to expedite their work on ambitious projects like the forthcoming 2024 Rift update.

"We've been investing extra heavily in tools, workflows, and map features this last year to make these kinds of changes easier," Spawndog explained.

"[There are] still lots of improvements to go but large, high-quality changes are becoming more feasible."

The newfound efficiency comes with the added benefit of encountering fewer issues during the development process.

Although Spawndog remained discreet about the specifics of the technology upgrades, he highlighted their transformative impact on the development process.

Past updates, such as this year's Soul Fighter event, the innovative League Arena game mode and its 1.5 update, the eagerly awaited return of Nexus Blitz, and the Void-themed changes slated for the 2024 preseason, are now slated to be much more accessible for replication in the future.
