The League of Legends has remained popular with a large number of new players joining the community every year. It is a multiplayer online battle arena also commonly referred to as MOBA. Let’s look at the game and its various intricacies.

    INTRODUCTION

The game is played between two teams of five players each. The battle takes place on a map called Summoner's Rift. Each player controls their character in the game, referred to as the Champion. Currently, the game has around 150 great champions. A player can choose among these options by using the in-game cash or real money to get riot points.

    CHAMPIONS

Every Champion is unique as they all have their extraordinary powers, and each one is suited for a different play style. The champions are selected before each match when both the teams take turns to choose their champions. Champions are not only selected based on their powers and suitability for a particular player but also based on how they complement other champions in the team. In this manner, teams devise strategies regarding which champions to pick to create an overall balanced and effective team.

    WINNING A GAME

During that game, the ultimate aim of your team is to destroy the opposing team's base. But this is easier said than done as the enemy team will try to protect its base and simultaneously look to destroy yours, which means there should be a good balance between defensive and offensive strategies. Apart from this, there is a base that spawns a series of minions and sports turrets. All this means that you cannot just generate and run towards the enemy's base to destroy it, as at the beginning of the round, you will be weak and easily killed by the opposing team.

    UPGRADING CHAMPION

This is where the charm and beauty of this strategy game come into play. The gameplay is basically like a role-playing game but condensed into a very short match. At the beginning of each round, you start with your Champion at level one, and throughout the game, you upgrade your Champion by obtaining gold and gaining experience. Once a team feels that it currently holds a strategic advantage in power and position over the other team, it pushes and aims for victory.

    MAPS

Apart from the Summoner's rift, that game also has other maps, but all the ranked matches are played on the former map. The Summoner's map is the most basic and on which a person will be playing most of the time. The blue teams start at the bottom left corner, and the red team starts at the top right corner. Throughout the game, waves of minions will be spawned and will rush towards the enemy's base through the three routes on the map. These lanes are commonly referred to as the top lane, middle lane, and bottom lane. In these lines, turrets are placed that attack enemy players as well as their minions. First, a player has to destroy all the turrets in any lane and the two towers that protect the nexus from attacking the base.

    TURRETS AND INHIBITORS

By destroying these turrets and inhibitors, a player gets gold to upgrade their Champion. When you kill an enemy's inhibitor, your team can spawn super minions. These upgraded forms of minions will continue to generate until the destroyed inhibitor respawns again. The Player also gets gold by killing minions and the opposing team's champions.

    FOUNTAIN

At the start of the game, you begin at the fountain, and every time your character dies in the game and respawns, it will be at the fountain. There is a shop which is located at the fountain. A Champion can come back to this place during the game to purchase items to make their Champion stronger or heal. For this, a player uses the recall ability that all summoners possess. The gold that a player amasses can be used to upgrade the various attributes of their champions and provide an element of flexibility to the Player to customise their Champion; for example, they can go for more damage power or better manoeuvrability.
