    The Indian Government has officially recognised esports in the country. Esports will now be part of the category of "multi-sport events" in India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and a section on "matters related to online gaming" has also been added under MeitY.

    The Cabinet Secretariat announced the inclusion of "esports" under the sub-division " Department of Sports" of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
