All we know about Grand Theft Auto 6

Although Rockstar Games has announced Grand Theft Auto 6, it hasn't given the game an official title yet.

After many years of speculation and assumption, Rockstar Games officially announced in February 2022 that the sequel to Grand Theft Auto was in development and that production was "well in progress."

Whether or not the game will be dubbed GTA 6 or something else is yet to be determined.

Although Rockstar isn't yet ready to announce specifics about the coming GTA, the company has said that its primary goal with the new game is that it should "significantly leap ahead of" the previous games it had released.

In an official statement, Rockstar Games said, "With the unprecedented longevity of GTA V, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered—and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway… We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready."

Rumours regarding Grand Theft Auto 6 have been plenty. One of the most exciting theories could be that it is expected to include a Fortnite-like map that is evolving somehow.

According to some speculation, it would enable Rockstar to regularly alter and modify GTA 6's world map like how live-service games change the map frequently.

Some rumours suggest GTA 6 will be set in the 1980s, but the reporter Tom Henderson has rejected that assertion, saying that GTA 6 will be placed in a more modern model based on Vice City.

As for playable characters, it is recommended that Rockstar will feature several playable characters. This interactive device first appeared in GTA 5 and was much appreciated by fans.

In the story of GTA 5, the three main characters - Trevor, Michael, and Franklin are all male. But, rumours suggest that, at the very least, one of the protagonists from GTA 6 will be a female.

One of the other rumours that are being considered regarding GTA 6 is that the game may be a timed exclusive for PS5 — this would be a big deal, but it's also not necessarily a surprise.

GTA and PlayStation have been in partnership for a long time, and in the time of exclusive content, Sony is paying Rockstar for some form of exclusivity and will continue that trend.

Who are the developers for Grand Theft Auto 6?

Grand Theft Auto 6, according to the fans (despite Rockstar not officially announcing the title as of yet), is under development at Rockstar Games.

Rockstar North, located in Edinburgh, Scotland, is in charge of the game's development. However, the entire network of studios is recognized for working together on the same game, like how development for Call of Duty is distributed among teams.

The latest game from Rockstar, Red Dead Redemption II, was developed by several teams.
