100 Thieves lose despite Doublelift breaking record on LCS return

It was a mixed affair for Doublelift as he returned to the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) on Thursday.

Just one game into his LCS comeback, Yiliang "Peter" "Doublelift" Peng wrote his name in the record books by reaching a total career mark of 2,100 kills, making him only the third player in history to achieve the feat.

Unfortunately for his team 100 Thieves, however, the milestone did not result in a victory, with their opponents Cloud9 going on to claim bragging rights.

The defending LCS champions made a killer move in the mid-to-late game, claiming a Rift Herald that would swing the contest decisively their way.

C9 ended up owning virtually every corner of the map in the late-game stage, as the contest ended with a lopsided score of 25-8 in the kill department, while C9 also enjoyed a gold advantage of 9,000.

Doublelift and the rest of the new-look 100 Thieves lineup will have another chance to pick up their first win of the season against Immortals on Friday.

In other action, two of the most completely-overhauled lineups in North American League of Legends, FlyQuest and Team Liquid, also did battle, with the former emerging victorious in 31 minutes.

FlyQuest had the strongest offseason of all LCS teams, adding several worlds participants, league MVPs, and top-level prospects from the LCS and overseas, and it showed in their performance.

FlyQuest will return to the LCS stage on Friday for another all-star matchup against another new-look squad, Dignitas.
