West Indies all-rounder Yannic Cariah fractures face ahead of Cricket World Cup Qualifier

    West Indies all-rounder Yannic Cariah sustained a nasal fracture after being struck by a ball in the face at training ahead of their Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe.

    <p>Yannic Cariah has been injured after being struck by a ball in the face ahead of the Cricket World Cup Qualifiers.</p>

    <p>The West Indies all-rounder has been in good form in the warm-up matches for the CWC Qualifier tournament, picking up figures of 4/46 against Scotland before following that up with 4/58 in 114 run victory against the United Arab Emirates. </p>

    <p>West Indies Cricket confirmed on their social media that the 30-year-old was struck in the face during training on Saturday ahead of their opening clash against the United States. </p>

    <p>Cariah will be looking to recover in time for his assessment and help the Carribean team secure a 2023 Cricket World Cup spot. </p>

    <p>The leg-spinner has eight West Indies ODI caps to his name, claiming nine wickets and scoring one half-century (52). Cariah also has two T20 Internationals under his belt.</p>

    <p>West Indies have begun their campaign without him against the USA on the opening day of the CWC Qualifier today, where they have been sent in to bat first after losing the toss, setting the Americans a target of 298. </p>

    <p>The Caribbean outfit will then prepare to face aspiring CWC qualifiers Nepal, Zimbabwe and the Netherlands in the other Group A fixtures in Zimbabwe.</p>
