Vijay Shankar : The Perfect one down batsman for Gujarat ?

Many players have shined with their extraordinary performances in the fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League. At the same time, some failed to make an impact on the league due to their poor performance.

Gujarat Titans, the current table topper of the tournament, has been excellent in the tournament. However, Vijay Shankar, who is their one down batsman, is being questioned for his position in the batting order as an all-rounder and has disappointed everyone with his poor performance. Many have shown dissatisfaction with the team's decision while the team has constantly been backing him throughout the tournament.

    Shankar's inconsistency at number 3

In their opening match against Lucknow Super Giant, Vijay Shankar was sent at number three along with huge expectations from him at number three. However, the batsman failed to meet the expectations as he was dismissed on just four runs. In the second match against Delhi Capitals, he was backed by the team and was again sent at number three, although the all-rounder failed once again and managed to score just 13 runs with a poor strike rate of 65. Due to his poor display in the two matches, he was dropped against Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad for the next two games. In the match against Rajasthan Royals, the team again showed faith in him and included Shankar in the playing eleven. However, he just scored two runs off seven balls, which disappointed the team management and their belief in Shankar. However, the team didn't lose hope in him, and he was chosen in the playing eleven against CSK. They had huge expectations and hopes from the all-rounder. However, he failed to provide justice to the team's faith and was sent back for a duck at the second ball itself. Shankar has constantly failed to meet the expectations this season, and his underperformance is now a big concern for the team management.

Huge backlash by the fans for Vijay Shankar at number 3

The all-rounder has now become a hot topic as he is constantly failing to make any runs for the team while batting at number 3. The all-rounder became a trending topic on social media, too, as many fans were shocked to see him bat at the position for the new franchise. Shankar is being constantly trolled for his poor performance in the cricket world, and not just fans but also many experts are criticising this decision by the franchise as a significant failure. The decision somehow does not seem to fit properly as the batter was unable to deliver good performance and was disappointed multiple times.

This is not the first time the all-rounder has failed to meet the expectations. Shankar has been underperforming for the last few years, which is also why he has been absent from the national side. Shankar is indeed a great player, and he has proved it several times earlier. However, his poor form at constant failure for the franchise is turning out to be a nightmare for the all-rounder. Currently, the player needs to take some time to revive from the failure and to work on his game. The team management and the captain should also assist him with his performance and need to try some new positions for the player, which may turn into a remarkable comeback if the player succeeds at the place. Looking at the current situation and experts' opinions, Shankar does not seem to be a perfect batsman at number three, and the team surely needs to think about it.
