Over the 15 years since his ODI debut in 2007 against Ireland, the Sri Lanka match will be his 44th Test, with the other games made up of 230 ODI’s and 125 T20I’s.

Rohit joins an illustrious list of Indian cricket legends headed by Sachin Tendulkar with a staggering 664 games played.

MS Dhoni (538), Rahul Dravid (509), Virat Kohli (457), Mohammad Azharuddin (433), Sourav Ganguly (424), Anil Kumble (403) and Yuvraj Singh (402) complete the list for India.

The Indian team will be looking to maintain the excellent start to Rohit’s Test captaincy following their one innings and 222 run demolition of Sri Lanka in Mohali.

More of the same will be demanded from Rohit as India aim to secure a 2-0 series victory.

The second Test match gets underway on Saturday in Bengaluru in what is a day/night fixture that will add extra substance to the game.

It will be interesting to see how Sharma's men fair in their fourth day night Test and third in India.

Their first was a convincing innings and 64 run victory over Bangladesh in Kolkata back in 2019, however India were on the end of an 8 wicket mauling from Australia in Adelaide.

Their last outing was a comprehensive 10 wicket victory over England in Ahmedabad where Rohit scored 91 runs. A pretty compelling effort considering England were spun out for 112 and 81.
