Legends League Cricket: Five stars fans are desperate to see back in action

With the latest edition of the Legends League Cricket set to get underway, fans are doubtless excited over getting to watch some of their favourite players from the past back on the field

    Morgan Morgan

Here we look at five players who fans would be most keen to watch in action once again.

Virender Sehwag – The man who played T20s before it was even a thing, Sehwag was the kind of batsman who could singlehandedly take a game away from the opposition. His record of 843 runs at an average of 38.82 in the ODI World Cup proves that, as does the fact that he batted at a strike rate of 106.17 – massive by ODI cricket standards, especially in those days.

His big-hitting and hand-eye coordination are fabulous to watch, and fans will be hoping he can rewind the clock and secure a few more big hits in the coming days.

Eoin Morgan – Morgan only announced his retirement earlier this year, so he is still in relatively good condition regarding match fitness. And the man who led England to their maiden ODI World Cup will be keen to remind fans what he’s capable of.

At his best, Morgan was an unorthodox and unrelenting power hitter, capable of big scores and shots that could wow audiences. Fans will be keen to see if the old spark is still there, especially given his international career just petered out towards the end.

Gautam Gambhir – The man who played key knocks in both India’s 2007 World T20 final as well as the ODI World Cup win in 2011, Gambhir is a man who has retained the love of the general public for his gritty knocks.

But beneath the grit was a batsman capable of making the sublime look easy and a player who could hit spinners for big sixes with little effort. No doubt many fans will welcome seeing him dance down the track to bowlers again.

Graeme Swann – Never one who quite got his due as a player due to England’s underachievement in white-ball cricket, Swann nevertheless remains a spinner who could weave webs around the best of players.

He’s also pretty popular in India, given he’s done TV and broadcast work for the IPL and international games. And fans will be waiting with bated breath to see a spinner of his sheer quality in action again.

Harbhajan Singh – An off-spinner who made an impact across formats, Harbhajan remains a figure in the public consciousness due to his media work since retiring. But it is for his on-field exploits that he remains widespread, and fans will be waiting keenly to see him back in action.

Like Morgan, Harbhajan will be in decent shape, given he only retired from cricket a couple of years ago. And the hope is that he will still have some of the old magic left that made him a crucial part of a title-winning Mumbai Indians side and a Chennai Super Kings team that went on to win the trophy on a comeback from their ban.
