While playing for Mumbai Indians, the all-rounder had a rough patch on-field in the Indian Premier League. After the tournament concluded, he in no time joined Surrey for the 20th edition of T20 Vitality Blast. After a struggling start in continuation to IPL, he was beginning to regain his form but he'll have to miss the remaining season in recovery. Kieron Pollard suffered a knee injury early on in the tournament and even underwent surgery for the same but failed to improve significantly.

In the official statement released by Surrey, it stated, “Despite treatment, he has failed to improve significantly and therefore a decision was taken to gain a surgical opinion. He has undergone successful surgery this [Tuesday] morning which will keep him out of action for the next four to six weeks whilst he rehabilitates.”

Reacting to the same, the Caribbean expressed his frustration and said, “This is hugely frustrating as we have been a dominant force and I felt I was part of something special. But I wish the lads all the best for the rest of the campaign whilst I get myself fit and firing again.”

After scoring 99 runs in 5 innings at a tremendous strike rate of 141.42, his exclusion will come as a huge blow to Surrey because his experience was the key contribution and a marquee signing for the county. Though qualified for the quarterfinals with nine wins, the team will miss his services; however, he is expected to make a comeback with Hundred to play for London Spirit.
