Australian opener David Warner has donned the orange cap three times in the Indian Premier League (2015, 2017 and 2019). He has been one of the most consistent batsmen in the T20 and Indian Premier League.

However, he has struggled in the previous two seasons which led to him being released by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Delhi Capitals won the bid for 2020 auction for the sum of INR 6.25 crores, which is half of what Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him in Season 2020 (INR 12.5 crore).
