The penultimate fixture of the four-Test affair was originally scheduled for Dharamsala.

"The third Test of the Australia tour of India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, originally scheduled to take place at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala, from 1 to 5 March, has now been moved to Holkar Stadium, Indore," read a statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

"Owing to harsh winter conditions in the region of Dharamsala, the outfield lacks sufficient grass density and will need some time to develop fully."

Delhi and Ahmedabad have been retained as the venues for the second and fourth Test, respectively.

India have an early series lead after an innings and 132-run win in the first Test in Nagpur.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was named player of the match after taking seven wickets and scoring 70 runs.

The series opener was his first international match in several months. He had been sidelined by a knee injury.

Spinner Matthew Kuhnemann, meanwhile, has been added to Australia's Test squad.

Kuhnemann has been capped four times in ODI cricket, but not yet in Test competition.

"Matt is a live chance to play in the next Test match. If we play three spinners then we clearly want back-up here and available in the squad if that's the way we want to go,"  said Australia head coach Andrew McDonald.

Whether all-rounder Cameron Green and fast bowler Mitchell Starc will return to the Australia XI remains in the balance. Green and Starc, too, have been sidelined by injury. Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, though, will remain unavailable for the second Test due to injury.

"Josh is close. So I think it's just probably the load in that Achilles. We just don't want to push it. He's going to have three days off and then have a main bowl if he gets through that," added McDonald.
