The batter is also a key player for his IPL franchise as he has led the team towards five trophies in the league.

Rohit is renowned for his gifted timing and tremendous ball-striking abilities, especially in limited-overs cricket. The 'Hitman' made his IPL debut for Deccan Chargers in 2008, led by Adam Gilchrist. He was a consistent batter in the starting line-up and played three straight seasons for them. He lifted the maiden IPL trophy of his career for Deccan Chargers in 2009.

A perfect leader for Mumbai Indians!

Among his countless achievements, Rohit lifting five IPL titles as the captain of Mumbai Indians ranks right at the top.

In 2011, Rohit Sharma was bought by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL mega auction, and there has been no looking back since. He was appointed as the captain of the Mumbai Indians after a couple of matches in 2013 and led Mumbai to their maiden IPL title. It was not an easy task for the skipper as the captaincy had changed after Sachin left. The Mumbai-based franchise made a grand double after clinching the Champions League, beating Rajasthan Royals by 33 runs in the same year.

In 2015, after facing an initial struggle, the Rohit Sharma-led unit remarkably turned the table and celebrated its second IPL title. The legacy of the skipper went on as he successfully put three more feathers on Mumbai Indians' crown in 2017, 2019, and 2020 editions of IPL.

    Hitman with his bat!

Rohit Sharma has not only guided the entire team but also played some groundbreaking innings with the bat. He has breached the 5000-run mark already and is among the top run-getters of the tournament. Sharma has scored 5764 runs in his 221 IPL appearances with an average of 30.6. He has got 40 half-centuries and a ton to his name already. Currently, Rohit Sharma is the full-time captain of India in all forms of the game.

    The beast of Wankhede!

He is the highest run-scorer at Wankhede Stadium, which is his home ground, in the history of the Indian Premier League. Rohit Sharma has scored 1733 runs at Wankhede Stadium in IPL at an average of 34.66, courtesy of 14 half-centuries. 94 is Rohit's highest score at the Wankhede Stadium in IPL, which he scored against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2018.

Wishes poured in for the skipper.

"Happy Birthday Rohit Sharma. God Bless." posted by Virat Kohli.

"Wish you a happy birthday Rohit. Have a great year ahead," Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh tweeted, "Happy birthday brotherman, this is the time to back yourself and hit it out of the park like you always have. Sending you loads of love and good wishes on your special day @ImRo45."

"400 international matches, 15,733 international runs and going strong, only batter to hit 3 ODI double tons, 2007 ICC World T20 & 2013 ICC Champions Trophy winner. Here's wishing #TeamIndia captain @ImRo45 a very happy birthday," tweeted the official handle of the BCCI.

While MI is already out of the playoff race, a captain's birthday will be memorable for the franchise. The five-time IPL Champions have lost all the eight league stage fixtures.
